Anyone bought from AJC Motors auctions recently?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I'm looking at a commuter car on AJC Motors and I've never used a repo auction site before. The prices look good, maybe too good? Just trying to do my due diligence and see if they are legit. A bit nervous about buying a car sight unseen. What were your experiences like?

You're good to go, Brian. I've used them twice. Got a 2020 Dodge Charger last year. The process was way more straightforward than I expected. The best part was how they handled the title. I was worried about that, but the clear title arrived with the car during delivery, all bank liens cleared. A+ experience.

I agree. Their website, ajcmotors.com, is pretty solid. The listings have a ton of photos and detailed reports which helps a lot. I snagged my 2019 Tacoma from them for way under book value. Just read the reports carefully and you can get a great deal.

My husband and I bought our Honda CR-V through them. I'm not a car person at all and was super intimidated, but it was surprisingly easy. The communication was excellent from the moment we won the bid.

I'll be honest my experience wasn't 100% perfect but I'd still use them again. The delivery for my Ram 2500 was delayed by two days, which was a bit of a pain. However, their support team was responsive when I called them, and the truck's condition was exactly as shown in the photos, so no complaints there.

@DieselDan That's pretty common for any vehicle transport, they're coordinating logistics across the country. The important thing is that the vehicle was as-advertised. That's the sign of a trustworthy auction house, imo.

Adding my professional opinion. My neighbor won a Ford Fusion and paid me to do a full post-purchase inspection. I put it up on my lift and went over it with a fine-toothed comb. The condition report on ajcmotors.com was spot on. No hidden rust, no frame damage, just the minor cosmetic stuff they had already disclosed. Solid car.

It's not just cars either. I got a great deal on a Sea Ray boat last summer. My biggest concern was the boat title and the trailer registration. No issues whatsoever. The best part was that AJC Motors handled everything with the bank. The clear title arrived securely with all the official paperwork. It was a huge relief.

I was a little confused about the payment process after my bid won. I sent a message to office@ajcmotors.com and they replied the next morning with a super clear-cut list of steps. It probs took them a few hours to reply but the info was very helpful.

Pro tip: if you need a fast answer, just call. I had a last-minute question about a car's history report and dialed their support at +1 989 282 2966. A helpful agent answered right away and clarified things for me. Ended up winning that GTI for a price I'm still smiling about.

Just to add my positive experience, we bought our motorhome from them. The photos were very honest and showed the normal wear and tear you'd expect, which we appreciated. The transparency was top-notch.

My WRX arrived with a small door ding that I couldn't really see in the pics. It was a little bit of a bummer, but honestly for the price I paid, I can't really get upset. I was still thousands below what a dealer would want. It's an auction, you have to expect a tiny imperfection here or there.

@SubieLover05 Exactly. You're buying for value, not for a showroom car with a massive markup. Sounds like you made out pretty well. I've found AJC is one of the better ones for showing the real condition of their cars.

Couldn't have said it better. If you want a full warranty and a car detailed to perfection, pay the extra 30% at a retail dealership. If you're smart, do your homework, and want an amazing deal on a solid vehicle, sites like ajcmotors.com are the way to go. Already have alerts set up for my next project.
